There are several types of carabiners available:

Screw-locking Carabiners: Where total peace of mind is required, the locking thread style is popular, but it takes more time to operate.

Wire-Gate Carabiners: Considered the simplest carabiner, the stainless steel spring offers resistance to being opened and will automatically close.

FresKaro carabiners are designed to last at least ten years with proper maintenance, which involves using a dry wax-based lubricant on the hinge area and washing after contact with salt water or air.

It's important to note that while the 8kN carabiner is strong enough for many applications, it is not suitable for climbing, as the UIAA states that a climbing carabiner must have a minimum 20kN rating. The 8kN carabiner should not be used for applications that could generate forces exceeding its rated capacity, such as using it for a hammock.
